Ingo Petzke – Author’s Response

Hi Mitch,

Your images arrived on Saturday, almost one month after you sent them off. Seems the postal service was better in the olden days 😊

/////

I don’t really know what I expected but nothing as direct – not dreamlike, hardly surreal – as what the results show.

I seem to sense a somewhat strange coldness evaporating from the images. Partly that’s because of the use of black and white, partly probably because of the officer in one still. Army in my generation is definitely not showered with empathy.

I seem to sense a somewhat strange coldness evaporating from the images.

The word “film” in my prompt obviously led to depicting audiences together with screens (and twice with monitors). The ladies look old-fashioned as they may have looked in 1929. The whole output of pictures is very serious and solemn and in no way near as funny or ridiculous as I experienced the prompt originally.

/////

I hope this is approximately what you expect.

Thanks for including me!
