I have mixed feelings about this series.
The parent grid for Edition 15-A2CB is an accurate depiction of what I was expecting, while the end result of this sequence and Edition 01-A2BEI (see above), make for deeply thought provoking image constructions.
However, I absolutely dislike the explicitness of the El Agua Slideshow (Editions 07-A1BC thru 09-A4JF). These are too disturbing! As illustrations – along with their parent grids – they are almost impossible to look at.

One of the reasons I chose the phrase – “No tomes el agua (Don’t drink the water)” – was because back in 2006 there were bodies of missing people decomposing in the rivers in Colombia. Fish were eating the flesh off their corpses and a health warning was issued to not drink or draw water from the rivers. Locals in affected areas were advised against eating any freshwater fish during the six-month period in which investigations were carried out. I guess these results – as shock-laden and melodramatic as they are – draw from historical media reports and government warnings relating to this incident.

The image compositions are surprisingly satisfying.
The strong image of the woman (see Edition 01-A2C above) fits perfectly with the theme of collectiveness. During many years Colombians have been struggling within a fiercely divisive political climate – conservatism vs liberalism. Only now are people finally listening to one another.
Furthermore, it is the women who ultimately suffer the most in times of conflict and war – usually it is their sons or husbands who end up going to the frontlines never to return. The image series is suggestive of a political movement – women in particular resisting “machismo” and inspiring men and the younger generations to feel their struggles and change the dynamic in the society and the economy.
There is a possibility the algorithm may have used historical art movements, such as Cubism of even Dada. Editions 01-A3CBC and 01-A2C depict interesting and unexpected results in terms of the supplied prompt.
Colombia went through a national strike in the last three months of 2021 during the pandemic. Police brutality, heated demonstrations, a pathetic government response and oppressive laws forced the country to go into a mode of resistance for a very long time. People did manage however to come together eventually.

There are links throughout both of these image series to historical and political sentiments, some of them are highly charged, explicit and emotional.

There is strangeness and error here too. I find it very interesting the woman (Edition 01-A2C ) has yellow and blue coloured trim on her breast lapel – maybe a reference to the Ukrainian flag but intended to be Colombian?
As a pacifist these results are quite extraordinary because they intersect with both past and current events and narratives in a way I did not foresee.
