At first glance the images generated by the machine felt uncanny. There was something about these familiar stereotypes that was very, very strange… It was as if these images had been extracted from my memory and reassembled by some kind of alien vision. These fragmented bodies — with missing or partly concealed heads, felt like future scenarios created by something that has never touched or been touched by the reality that it is trying to articulate.

Why do all the faces in these images belong to women — even if their fragmented mechanised bodies do not? You asked the machine where I would be if I was diagnosed mad in the year 2100. How did the machine know that I identified as a woman? Or did it just assume that it must have been a woman who was asking that kind of question?
There is something alluring about the women in these images who have eyes. Why have the others had their faces covered over?
Fragmented and distributed, the energy held by these maddened figures is slippery and confusing.
The expressions that give character to their faces and bodies feel like contorted assemblages of madness, beauty, desire, and lust. Somehow, they are all longing for a world that feels outside of their reach. These are bodies without breath, faces who are staring at something, but who have never seen anything with their own eyes.
What kind of body did the intelligence that created these images belong to?
